Pokemon have abilities that affect battles.
Pokemon attacks can also have secondary effects
Among them are status conditions:
Poison: pokemon take damage periodically
Burn: pokemon take damage periodically
Paralyzed: Pokemon sometimes can’t move
Frozen: Pokemon can’t move
Sleep: Pokemon are asleep
Confusion: Pokemon may cause damage to themselves
Attraction: Pokemon may not fight their opponent
Barring confusion and attraction, pokemon can only seem to take on one status condition at a time.

Trainers can have up to 6 pokemon on them at a time. (pick a wide variety)
Other pokemon go to a PC automatically
Can access the PC at a Poke Center
